Final Sunflower Update 2015 #atozchallenge

The Blogging from A to Z April Challenge is now history with A to Z posts tucked away into the archives of the many who participated in this year's event.  The last of the A to Z Reflections Posts have been added to the list.  There are many to visit and there have been many excellent suggestions made along with numerous kudos to the Challenge.  Be sure to visit as many of these Reflections as you can and let the bloggers know you were there to visit them.

One Worn Out Sunflower!

The A to Z Sunflower on Saturday May 9th.

After a grueling month and a battering but well needed rain, the A to Z Sunflower is about to keel over as the week of Reflections come to an end.  This flower stood tall throughout April and became an apt symbol for all the A to Z participants.  What began as a seed planting in tribute to our late A to Z Challenge co-host Tina Downey, the Sunflower became my official A to Z Mascot for the 2015 Challenge.

The A to Z Survivor T-Shirt!

Did you get your A to Z Survivor T-shirt yet?  Mine came in the mail this past week.  I ordered it on Tuesday morning, received shipping notification that same afternoon, and the next day it was in my mailbox.  The company that makes these is about an hour from where I live so I got mine faster than you might, but still I've got to give NeatO credit for fast service.

I thought I'd prop up my A to Z Sunflower to pose with me while I modeled the shirt for you.

Here's a closer look at the shirt design. My wife absolutely loved the design and colors.  Now I can't guarantee you that you'll look as pretty as I do wearing your shirt, but I think odds are you might look even better.   When you get your shirt have a photo made to put up on your blog and share it with us.  Maybe we'll even put up a photo gallery of A to Z shirt wearers here at the A to Z Blog site if we get enough of you sending them in to us.  Leave us links in the comments if you have any photos on your blog of you wearing your shirt.

If you're interested in the shirt then visit NeatO Shop.  If you go right away you might even be able to take advantage of the special sale prices they've been offering this week.  But even at the regular price the shirt is still a bargain.

Our thanks to all for participating in the 2015 A to Z Challenge.  An added thank you to everyone who added their Reflections Post.   Be watching this site on Wednesday May 13th for the announcement of the 2015 A to Z Road Trip.  The A to Z fun is not over yet!

Has anyone else's Sunflowers for Tina bloomed yet?   Have you ordered an A to Z Survivor T-shirt yet?   Are you or have you already put up a picture of you wearing your T-shirt?

  1. Here in Britain our sunflowers are just starting to get going the tallest of them is almost six inches but with luck it will grow many feet before the summer is over (As long as we get a summer, this is Britain). . . . . . I hope the T-shirt sells well.

    1. Rob, I guess David Cameron assured you a good summer if he won the election so things should be nice in Britain.

  2. I just ordered my shirt. I’m sure it will be a conversation piece, for sure.

    1. Lynda, when the conversation begins that's when you can talk about your blog and about A to Z. It's a great idea for maybe getting some new readers or even some new bloggers to join us in the Challenge next year.

  3. the fact that your sunflower is drooping so far means it has a heavy seed head...a good thing. it wouldn't hurt to stake it

    1. Delores, I'm a bit late to stake it as about 3 hours after the photo was taken, the stalk broke and the flower fell face down in the dirt. It appears to have a lot of seeds so I think I'll plant them as well and see what happens.

  4. Great photo of a great man in a great shirt Lee! Let the sunflower rest for a little, or stake it as Delores says ...

    1. Susan, see my above reply to Delores. The Reflections are over so I guess the Sunflower figured its job was done.

  6. I love your pictures, Lee! Tina surely was with us this whole month. Each and every time I see a sunflower I think of her amazing friendship! We were lucky to have known her.

    1. I was glad to see the flower make it through April and right to the end of the Reflections Week. Tina made it through one last A to Z via the Sunflower.

  8. Love the shirt Lee but don't wear T shirts - sorry. Looks like you are going to have lots of seeds to plant sunflowers for next year. At least it went the distance.

    1. Actually Jo, I don't wear T-shirts out in public anymore, but I'll be making an exception for this shirt a few times during the summer.

  11. Thanks once again for a great Challenge. it was by far the best one ever and I have participated in the last three.
Yes, I have ordered 2 tee shirts and I am still waiting on them to get here. I live in Europe so it may take a little time for them to get across the water, but when they do, I'll definitely be sporting them around.

  12. I ordered my shirt! I should have it maybe today or tomorrow. Can't wait. Love the photo of you and the A-Z mascot, Lee! You could have a career in modeling so keep that in mind, should you ever get the urge... :)
How beautiful that the sunflower stood tall and proud all through the month of April...

    2. Just ordered my shirt! Sadly, I will have to buy a sunflower since I didn't plant one, and with the water shortage, a lot of flowers are dying.
      You look awesome, Lee.

      Delete
    3. Susan, water shortage or not I'm still going to plant the seeds from my now collapsed A to Z flower. I've never done this before so I see what happens. There appears to be a lot of seeds in the head of this bloom. And from what I've read the flower only needs to be watered about once a week. That shouldn't be too much water for ol' Jerry Brown.

Today I planted some of the seeds from the flower. We'll see what happens with them.
