#atozchallenge F for Family-Friendly Fun Game Books

#AtoZChallenge 2021 April Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter F

Guest post from Kathryn Mowers:

Hello everyone! I wanted to share how FABULOUS it is to be a 'book lady'. I get to help match FAMILIES to their FAVORITE books to FIT all of their needs! It is a wonderful way to spread literacy and get more books into the hands of children. I also really enjoyed being able to come up with the list of A to Z books, though it was hard to choose because there are so many FANTASTIC options through Usborne Books & More! I wanted to FEATURE some books with games for you today:

For the youngest gamers, "Usborne FIRST Jigsaws" is a book with eight, 2-piece jigsaw puzzles! Perfect for introducing problem solving and terminology. It comes in FARM animals, animals, and under the sea!

Usborne's "Busy Books" are great for older toddlers! They are FUN, interactive books that teach prepositional words like "around, through, over". Each page FEATURES a track that the wind-up or pull-back toy whizzes around as they explore the book! These come in several themes... bug, car, helicopter, train, bus, plane, race car, and tractor.

Preschoolers love the "Matching Games"! This set has 36 game cards, FOUR boards, and a coordinating book with FACTS and beautiful photos.  They are a great way for young children to develop recognition, memory, and communication skills. They can be used for a matching game and for bingo! This set comes in bugs, dinosaurs, and under the sea.

Getting ready for spring break or summer travel? Usborne's "Travel Games Pad" is great for long journeys or rainy days. These are ideal for school-aged children and FEATURE 200 tear-off sheets for quick games on the go! Time will pass in a FLASH!

For the FUTURE scientists and doctors, "Human Body: Book & Jigsaw Puzzle" is a 100-piece jigsaw of the human body, with a 24-page book that introduces the body systems and FUNCTION Some other options in this series include bugs, dinosaurs, and unicorns.

Fun gaes! When I was a teenager, my favorite book serie was "Le club des cinq" (The Famous Five, by Enid Blyton), adventure, fun, all in one... well, a little more than one ;))

Usborne books were good when my children were young. I used to go to parties to see the latest irresistible ones!
A favourite childhood book of mine was The Little White Horse by Elizabeth Goudge.

I don't think we had all these brightly coloured, highly illustrated books when I was little - I suppose A.A. Milne's books of poetry "When We Were Very Young" and "Now We Are Six" were the nearest with beautiful line illustrations and the sort of poems that are as fun for an adult to read to children (lots of scope for hamming up the emotions) as they were, or are, for children to listen to - again and again...
Meanwhile - a darker turn over at my evolving novel https://how-would-you-know.blogspot.com/2021/04/doppelganger.html

Love it!
My favourite books as a kid were the Richard Scarry books, I couldn't get enough of them and loved introducing my sons to the joys of Scarry.

What a great way to get young ones involved in blogging... good thoughts. As a child I didn't have many books but one of my favorites was Three Little Horses by Piet Worm and Veronica by Roger Duvoisin. I also had a book of Aesop's Fables. I think I might have to find another copy of that. I'll be over at my site Fixing Faults if you want to join me.

Cheers,

I don't recall having a favorite book when I was little. There weren't too many in our home. My parents did buy a set of children's Bible stories. I remember looking at the pictures which I really enjoyed. :)

Stop by when you get a chance to check out my Looney Tunes Foghorn Leghorn art sketch on Curious as a Cathy. ;) Happy A2Zing!

I just played Rock, Paper, Wizard this last weekend with my family... I'm not sure it counts as building blocks, but then we assembled Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum in Lego. That surely counts.

On a very different aspect of reality, let me introduce you the Forsaken Monument.

As a parent definitely the Richard Scarry books until my son was old enough for me to read him Redwall by Brian Jacques. As a kid the only book I remember was Uncle Wiggily’s Travels by Howard R. Garis.

Did anyone else make 3d dioramas for book reports in grade school? This post brought that memory to the surface.

I wish I could remember the name of the book. I brought it home from the school library and it contained several stories, but my favorite was about a rabbit with "tired bunny feet". My dad and I laughed and laughed as we read the story together, and talked about "What say, Rabbit? Got tired bunny feet?" for years. I wish I could find that story again!!

Mr. Happy
I loved all the Little Miss Sunshine books. But my mom was reading the Mr. Happy book to me, and thought I wasn't paying attention, so she said, "and then Mister Happy picked his nose." And I busted up laughing because, of course, I was paying attention and that was not the next line and Mr. Happy was not a nose picker! 👃
He didn't even have a nose. 😊

Chapters From My Life said...

I can't name a single book which I loved as a child because they were many. Starting with Amarchitra Katha comics, I moved on to Marvel, DC, Enid Blyton, and Mark Twain. They were my companions and friends and I loved them as though they were living things.

I am loving the A-Z challenge https://www.chaptersfrommylife.com/2021/04/f-focused-yet-flexible.html
