MASTER LIST https://tinyurl.com/mu5vjy48
Our team theme this month is “Aspirations: Blogging hopes, dreams, and goals”.
One advantage of the A to Z Challenge is that it requires you to brainstorm what you're going to write about for an entire month. Sure, there's your theme, if you choose one, but even then you might come up with something better (e.g. better words) as you go through the month, or something you might want to focus on after the Challenge is over.
Have you been doing this?
Is your blog where you like it to be? Are you writing about things that inteest you, or are you writing because that's what you do?I an tell you from experience that writing for the sake of writing can burn you out in a hurry and turn this pastime into something you gotta do every day because that's what you said you wanted to do?
I can tell you from experience that'll burn you out in a hurry.
Have you got "hopes, dreams, and goals" for your blog? If not, why are you doing this?
April is a great time of the year to think about these things. Hint, hint....

I wish my blog was where I wanted it to be. Hoping to get there eventually. Totally agree about the burnout of writing for the sake of it or trying to do too much at once.
ReplyDeleteHere's my entry

My challenge posts involved a lot of brainstorming over many years and I have been adding to them after scheduling them, John. But it is fun!! https://suestrifles.wordpress.com/2026/04/02/homophones-beginning-with-b-atozchallenge/
ReplyDeleteHey John (boy) -- kidding! Yes I agree with you, doing it because you think you have to will burn you out in a heartbeat. You gotta do it because of the love you have for it and write from the heart not because it's going to get more likes....at least that's my take on it. That brings me to the question of the day: How do you Balance it all?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Barbie
This is my first time doing the challenge and I have high hopes for completing the task. I spend most of my life writing every day so that part will come easy barring any falling and breaking body parts. My approach was to take out a calendar and write a one word prompt for each day. A few of the days near the end are going to be super HARD, though.
ReplyDeleteMy wife asked me (not unkindly) why I write my blog since I'm not paid to do it. Well, besides the fact that I consider it an enjoyable hobby, I write because it helps keep my brain sharp. I form new sentences and come up with, what I hope, are creative ways to express myself. That way, I ward off the effects of old age as I...uh...you know...what was I saying? Oh, yeah, time for breakfast. And a nap.
ReplyDeleteOf course you can just post whatever comes to your head but there is still some brainstorming, some rethinking and even some regretting for posting too quick. I doubt my blog is where I want it to be. There's is always some tweaking and some new ideas and some adjustments to your thinking or rethinking, new thinking.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
Posting whatever comes into my head will be my theme next year. It'll actually be easier, but I think going with a "potpourri" kind of thing will be a nice break.
DeleteI think brainstorming is one of the most enjoyable processes of the A to Z challenge... already in February I'm going around my theme (and very likely trying to think about some W, X and Y posts, hahaha). Having said that, here it's my "B s for Beholder":

ReplyDeleteI think the guinea pigs have been brainstorming… a lot of their posts are on subjects I couldnt fit into the letters, but they’ve come up with great ideas.

ReplyDeleteI definitely did some brainstorming - I just didn't do as much forward planning as I should have.
