She stared down at her cell phone, noticing the text her husband just sent. “Ignore the insecurities, dear. Just do it! You know you can, and when you’re all through, you’ll be so proud and incredibly successful! Now get out there and start blog hopping to get some inspiration. I want to hear all about at least 15 new blog friends you’ve made when I get home.”
“Intuitive as usual,” she replied with a smiley face. Then she infectiously interacted with an increasingly large number of bloggers, and ingeniously scheduled three of her remaining posts.
If Isabelle can do it, so can you!

This is my 3rd year of working on A-Z and I'm not sure if my guy really gets what I'm doing....I'm not even sure he knows what blogging is despite my attempts to explain it to him. And sometimes he'll get up before me and see that my blog has automatically posted on Facebook and he says, 'OK I've been up for an hour. How did you post this when you're computer is in here and you were still asleep?' lol

The first year I did A to Z I just blogged about what ever came in my mind.
ReplyDeleteLast year, however, I struggled because I chose a theme, "resource management". Instead of writing what was taught I wrote what came to my mind.
Ingenious use of I's... lol. Thank you for reminding me to go visit new blogs! I've had the opposite problem, lots of ideas, writing is easy but not visiting enough. Time to turn that around!

So true about the pressure. It's a real challenge, it pushes you beyond comfort and that's how creativity really starts flowing. So good to see all those blogs! Love being part of it in my own little way!

ReplyDeleteWhat I like about the A to Z is that the letter is decided on already, you have to then finish the story, which makes it more difficult ... which is a good thing!

On another note, I had hope that this challenge might talk people into turning their captchas off and forgetting to turn them back on. Captchas are very, very annoying. VERY. I'm amazed how many captchas I'm solving a day just to comment blogs that are participating in this challenge. I'm thinking about starting an anti-captcha campaign! Maybe if we all protest, people will stop making us solve puzzles before we can comment.
ReplyDeleteI detest captcha, I didn't know I had it and turned it off as soon as I knew and it wont go back on. I am no longer adding comments on blogs where I have to type 700 numbers and I find it disappointing when it it too difficult to find a comment box. There are a lot of people who wish to force others to sign up rather than leave a comment. It has been an interesting learning activity that is for sure. :)
DeleteCecilia, I thought about refusing to leave comments if there's a captcha, but I then realize you don't know until you hit "Publish" and by then you've already typed the comment. Frustrating for sure! I get a few Anonymous comments every now and then that are spam--it's about one a week. I just delete it. Blogger catches the rest. WordPress was really good about catching spam, too. I don't think people realize spam filters are so advanced now, whatever problem they're preventing doesn't really exist anymore.
DeleteI am increasingly intrigued by the dwindling numbers. I started out with intent and set off to explore individual musings on blogs galore and every day I diligently visit five more. My numbers soared at first, visitors with enthusiasm bursting through the pixels then the numbers dwindled and dwindled and now just a few trickle by and say hi. If I make two new friends from all this work it will be worth it but I wonder why the task lost its glow for so many?
