#atozchallenge: N is for Never!

#AtoZChallenge 2022 tribute badge #AtoZChallenge 2022 Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter

The team's theme of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge this year is:
ACCOMPLISHING YOUR DREAMS, AND THE DUALITY OF 22

When I sat down to write this post, I was drawing a complete blank. I had no idea what I was going to write about. "Shoot," I said to myself (or words to that effect), "I'm never going to figure out something to say."

And just like that, I had it.

You have a blog post due that your readers are dying to read, and you can't get it out of your head and into a text block. When that happens, do this: open a new text document in the editor of your choice and start typing. Anything, whether it's relevant to your blog or yourself or not. Anything at all. Just keep moving, keep throwing words on the page. You'll figure out which ones to keep and in what order they should go after you've had some time to write. Eventually a blog post will appear. Trust me on this.

You know how I know? How do you think I came up with this?

What do you do when you can't get a blog post written?

  2. What do I do? Fake it! I will find something if it is even only slightly related. For example my N post today is about New World Order, but I also use it to talk about Star Trek and Doctor Who!

  5. Yes - good advice indeed - although I am pantsing it, I did make a list of topics in advance and barring a few awkward letters, having the topics themselves down is half the battle...

  8. Well I think the way you came up with the post is because "nothing" came to mind. Hope you enjoy my contribution today. I'm going to be a granny so I wrote a Nursery Rhyme

  10. Great idea! If I am struggling, it's usually a nonfiction topic, so I will perform some additional research and focus on one aspect that I find.

  11. My process for not getting a blog post written varies on the situation. Yesterday at 10 p.m. I had not yet written my limerick (my other 2 themes kind of write themselves as I did prep work ahead of the challenge on them) . After a few minutes of not writing a limerick I decided to write one on what happens when you have nothing on your page or on your mind. I instantly realized that I already have a limerick written for writers block that I am using for W. As I did not want to be repetitive. I brainstormed for a minute of other words that begin with n and I thought of next. I was pretty pleased with how it came out although I did change the 2nd line a little when I woke up this morning.

  12. John you've got it down.
I started blogging when I was writing or editing all day (or night) and I needed to empty my head.
great tips and advice from each of you.
