What is the function of your blog?
What about blogging is most important to you? A place for your voice to be heard, a way to make new friends, a place to share information, debate opinions, or perhaps to establish your authority on a topic? Do you update or post on your blog regularly, and do your followers know when to anticipate such posts? Are your comments fostering conversations? When someone new visits your blog, will they easily be able to find the desired content and engage?
Direct your blogging focus on efforts that meet your goals. Find your passion, then make your blog's function to define, explore, and share it with the world.

To me, blogging serves two purposes. One, a platform for self-expression. And two, a path to meeting other bloggers and knowing about and learning new cultures and perspectives. I have been blogging since 2004, and I have "met" innumerable people from different corners of the world. I hope to carry forward the experience this month.

ReplyDeleteThe function of my blog is mostly my own personal therapy. If it helps someone by giving them entertainment or teaching them something new they didn't know then good for both of us...that's a win win situation. Sometimes a commenter will even teach me something new and I love that because we all have room for growth. I have Faith that my blog is here for a reason and it will do what God has planned, not me. Not in my hands, my hands are just a tool for the Creator.

It's an outlet for my writings; a place to tell of thinks that makes me angry, sad, happy or saisfied; a place for my many hobies - and hopefully a help for hose saring my interests; a room for bloghops, games, and challenges, expanding my comfort zone; a chance to meet new and old friends from all over the world ... and much more

DeleteI've kept blogs since shortly after the turn of the century---that's sounds longer than saying two decades, at least to me. I think of my blog as an online diary and if occasionally I can make someone laugh or cry or identify with something I write, I'm a happy camper. I post like clock work on Wednesday but for a long time it was twice a week and before that it as every day. So this April Challenge has been a fun flashback of those days.

ReplyDeleteFor me the purpose of my blog is as a sort of repository for thoughts around gaming, a place where I can discuss the things that motivate me and to discuss my work in the hope that someone out there (or someones) finds it helpful. Pretty pedestrian and I suppose that's what we're all here for
