#AtoZChallenge The Great and Powerful A to Z Challenge Theme Reveal!

Every year since 2013, it has been a tradition for A to Z participants to reveal their Challenge themes ahead of time - on a day we lovingly titled The Great And Powerful Theme Reveal! With less than two weeks left before the Challenge begins, that day - IS TODAY!

One of the most burning questions participants ask themselves every year is: "Should I have a theme?" Themes are not mandatory, but definitely fun. They let your visitors know what to expect, create excitement and anticipation, and help you write posts that line neatly up from A to Z.

Four years ago A to Z participant Mina Lobo started the Theme Reveal, and we thought it was such a great idea that we made it tradition. It is now our very own, grand and festive way of rolling out our themes together!

As you probably already know, this year we are doing the Challenge without a Linky list. This means that people will be posting the links to their posts each day here on the blog, as well as on social media (see the details here!). Today is your chance to practice! Post your link to your theme reveal in the Comments, and visit others who have commented before you!

Most important of all: Have fun with your theme! We know we will!

This year I thought I'd go with a theme that's technically off-topic for my blog. Instead of posting about writing or Romance or even Science Fiction, I'm going for an actual science: Astronomy.

Go outside tonight and look up in the sky. If you're lucky, you'll be able to see a myriad of stars. If it's overcast, fret not, for weather is a planetary science. (Did you know it rains liquid methane on Saturn's moon of Titan?)

The theme I chose for this year is "Food For Thought." This way I can mention food (a main pastime for me, not to eat but to think about!) and to work in a thought about writing when appropriate. I didn't post on my blogsite today (recuperating from a 5-day writers conference that ended yesterday.) But I look forward to visiting everyone beginning April 1.

Hi, everyone! I have lost track of how many times I've done this, and I miss the linky already, but may have to add one to MY blog so participants can share their posts there! Hmmph.

My theme: Food, Fantasy, and Fiction.

Food, because I've been teasing my future son-in-law with food pics - he doesn't understand WHY anyone takes pictures of their food to share online, so of course, now, I have to do just that. It reminds me of the time I set out to prove to a Marketing professional that #hashtags and Twitter were a GOOD thing. I created a monster.

Fantasy, for all the "gee, wouldn't it be nice if...?" thoughts running through my head. Oh, sorry if you were hoping for something more titillating. Well, you never know...which leads me to:

Fiction. It's what I do, but have been doing too little of, lately. No time like April, the cruelest month and hardest taskmaster of them all.

Find me over at It's All a Matter of Perspective: http://jahangiri.us/2013/

Maybe I'll even reveal the secret behind the "2013."

This is my first year doing the A to Z Challenge, so I expect to make all the first time mistakes like not knowing where to post things, forgetting which letter to use next, forgetting the website address, keep asking the same annoying questions over and over, showing up late, and taking someone else's lunch from the refrigerator (sorry in advance, and why are you eating liverwurst with avocados?)

But I did a Theme Reveal post to let people know that I will participate in this challenge. I'd probably reach more people shouting out my window, which I might be doing later today, but until then, please feel free to see what my theme will be.

P.S. After half an hour and six attempts to post this comment from my WordPress account, I'm trying Google. Sorry if you end up with six copies of the same comment. This is frustrating.

Me, too. I fill in my username as directed when I click "Reply as: WordPress", then hit publish and it looks like it's responding, then goes to the WP Reader stream. This time, I'm trying from Google, which I haven't used in more than a year.

Who knew trying to publishing a comment could be such an adventure? I have tried multiple times to post my theme reveal here using my "Comment as: WordPress" username, and each time it says "Publishing", but instead, connects me to the WP Reader stream, and leaves no comment here. What's THAT all about?

Okay, I'll "Comment as: Sue Starlight", my G+ username, which I haven't used in more than a year. I go by Sue, Susan, or S.T. Ranscht.

But maybe all this frustration is fitting. The blog is Space, Time, and Raspberries at www.stranscht.com on WordPress. The theme is "Adventure!" Please join me for the epic serial fantasy/adventure of Elliot the snail as he races to leave his humdrum life in search of excitement, purpose, and maybe even romance. There will definitely be friends, enemies, and danger, complete with amazing images I promise to credit to the original artists. Hope to see you there!

A Rural Girl Writes reflects my idea of the good life--a farm in Missouri, a place with an uncluttered horizon, peppered mildly with the scent of large animals. I like life served up simple. Homemade over store-bought. Hard work and kindness. Faith. Kitchen table talk with a steaming mug of coffee. ARGW is part inspiration, part practical living. Linger here awhile. You're always welcome. http://www.amyharkemoore.com

I just heard about the Blogging A to Z Challenge a few days ago, as I was finishing up Two Writing Teachers' Slice of Life Story Challenge, to write a slice of life every day in the month of March. It's taking me a while to figure out the rules and methods here, but I'm definitely up for it. I'm not sure what theme I will hew to. My husband died just over a year ago, so I've been writing a lot about grief, missing him, and learning to live as a real single person -- but I'm not sure I want to write only about that for the whole month. I suspect a theme will crop up out of my many interests -- books, movies, food and cooking, politics (oh, politics so insane this year). And looking forward to reading many new blogs as well.

Participating in my first A to Z Challenge, and will be focusing primarily on chronic health issues, (including chronic pain), patient advocacy, and self-advocacy topics. Looking forward to a great month!
