#AtoZChallenge: Is this "ze end"? Mais oui!

#AtoZChallenge 2022 tribute badge #AtoZChallenge 2022 Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter

The team's theme of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge this year is:
ACCOMPLISHING YOUR DREAMS, AND THE DUALITY OF 22

It's April 30, and our trip through the alphabet has nearly reached its conclusion. There are less than 24 hours remaining in this year's A to Z Challenge before we can say, in a bad Maurice Chevalier impersonation, that it is "ze end."

I hope you had a good time doing this annual exercise. This was my eleventh challenge, and I consider it the highlight of my blogging year. At the end of March, I remember some people saying "I want to do the challenge, but I don't know what to do it on!" I told a few of you, just wing it: write about a word that starts with A on April 1, a word that starts with B on April 2, take Sundays off, and proceed through the alphabet that way. A lot of you took this on without a theme and did a great job. I did a few years ago, and may do it next year, unless I can come up with another theme. We used to say that having a theme was recommended, but really, it's optional.

Reflections 2022 #atozchallenge

Don't forget, starting this coming Monday, we'll be starting the A to Z Reflections posts, where you get to tell us how it went for you, what you want us to do differently, what you think you'll do differently next year (you are planning on joining us next year, aren't you?), and anything else you'd like to share with us. The reflections posts run through next Saturday.

Roadtrip #atozchallenge 2022

Then, starting on May 16, we start the A to Z Road Trip, where you can visit the blogs you didn't get a chance to during April. If you didn't get much time to see other blogs, this is your chance to do that. We usually give six months to do the road trip, but if you want to take until next March, none of us will stop you.

From all of us here at A to Z Central, thanks for making this year's Challenge the best!

#AtoZChallenge 2022 Blogging from A to Z Challenge letter

The team's theme of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge this year is:
ACCOMPLISHING YOUR DREAMS, AND THE DUALITY OF 22

Yikes!  I posted the wrong letter for the wrong day!  So I'm late for today's Y post.  Maybe I fell asleep on the job.

Wait!  Don't you nod off quite yet.  Yes, this is the next to the last day of this year's 2022 Blogging from A to Z April Challenge, but it's not totally over yet.  There's still the A to Z Reflections post which you can put on your site anytime in the coming week  Watch for the sign up list on this site soon.   We hope you will participate in this post-Challenge ritual.  It's of great help to the A to Z Team as well as to the other bloggers who participated this year or might wish to participate in future Challenges.  Your input is valuable!

Later in the month the A to Z Road Trip begins.  This is another chance to keep the spirit of the Challenge going throughout the year.  Didn't get a chance to make to all of the other A to Z blogs?  Here's your chance to catch up while getting your own blog out there to more readers.  And while you're making rounds don't forget to share the posts you deem worthy and leave comments so those bloggers will know you visited.

So, who needs sleep anyway?  Let's keep on blogging!  The blog road goes on forever...

Did you have a successful A to Z Challenge this April?   Do you find the Reflections posts to be of value to you?   Have you participated in past years' Road Trips?   Will you be joining the ride this year?

#AtoZChallenge X is for...

The team's theme of the April Blogging from A to Z Challenge this year is:

ACCOMPLISHING YOUR DREAMS, AND THE DUALITY OF 22

X is for...

Well, indeed, what is X for? Few letters in the alphabet are as difficult as X is. When I set out to write this post, I did some internet searching. I looked for synonyms of "dream" that included the letter X. I figured that even if the words didn't start with X, I could still use them in some clever way. Except...there were none. On an entire webpage of 160 synonyms and antonyms of "dream," there were 7 Xs on the website, most of them in ads and footers, and two in one of the "use the word in a sentence" locations. I went back to brainstorming, and I thought:

Dreams aside, what is your favorite X word?

For my own blog, I am using Rebekah Loper's book The A-Zs of Worldbuilding for my A to Z posts, so I was able to borrow (with permission!) her word: Xenial. Every time I see it, I have to remind myself of its meaning: of, relating to, or constituting hospitality or relations between host and guest and especially among the ancient Greeks between persons of different cities.

As I create my fictional world for my next novel, it's an important thing to think about, and also something to think about as we work toward our dreams. How do the relations with our guests and acquaintances impact the success of our endeavors? Are there expectations we should make ourselves aware of ahead of time? These are important things to ask ourselves as we work toward our dreams!

So please share with us our favorite X word, and maybe its meaning. It's good to learn new things! (And if you're interested in Worldbuilding, Rebekah's book is an excellent help!)
