MASTER LIST https://tinyurl.com/mu5vjy48
Our team theme this
month is “Aspirations: Blogging hopes, dreams, and goals”.
I’ve been blogging for over a decade now, sharing my writing
journey, research, and whatever else needed sharing. I’ve tried various
formats: Interviews, Guest Posts, Fiction (flash fiction and longer pieces),
Research Pieces, Author News, Long Format, Short Format, and things I can’t
even remember.
But jumping around had left no effect on my audience. In fact, it had created a divide. Not
everyone signed up to my blog to get news or fiction or whatever, and were left
disappointed when that day’s post wasn’t what they had signed up for initially.
The goal with
blogging had been to build an audience for my fiction. But without a proper
strategy, it looked like a scattergun approach without effect on the growth of a fan base whatsoever.
These days, I stick to writing monthly writing posts,
folklore and book review posts in April, with occasional bookish posts
throughout the year. The effect on
my blog’s subscriptions show that this works to further my blogging goals.
What do you do to reach
your blogging goals? What is the effect your blog has on you and your readers?

ReplyDeleteWell... my blog (I hope!) is a source of inspiration for players and DMs alike.
ReplyDeleteAnd since we're talking about effect, allow me the pun and introduce some special telluric effects with my entry for the letter "E":

My blogging gives me a sense of achievement. It also allows me to interact with people in different parts of the world. I have learnt a great deal in the 13 plus years I have been blogging. As for the effect on my readers? Some of them have been entertained.

I get your effect and that's a good goal to have. Mostly I blog because it's a therapy (per say) for me and if my readers get something from what I share then I look at it as a win win. We are all Evolving in some way, shape, or form to get an effect that we desire.
ReplyDeleteCheers,

Without the ability to comment, any blog-hops are deemed to fail, and now, with excellent timing Blogger has decided to throw a hissy fit.
ReplyDeleteWhenever I try to comment on a blogger-blog, there's three possible outcomes: The comment gets posted (maybe two in ten times) -- the comment does as if it posts, only it disappears -- I get an error message, telling me Failed to publish your comment, please try again later. These last two happening four out of ten each, but consistently on each blog.
Please all blogger-owners check your spam-comments for lost ones regularly.
And maybe try setting up commenting for pop-up as opposed to embedded for the duration?
I'm happy to report that Blogger has mended its ways and that I once again can comment an receive comments from others :D
DeleteIt's still a good idea to look into the spam filter often during this challenge.
Sadly, I do not have your aspiration or goals or audience but I just prefer to blog and hope some people like what I post. You got it to work and got the readers/results you want so congratulation on that.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I like what you post. So, there's that.
DeleteMy aspirations for blogging is to keep my brain from rusting up and, hopefully, give my reader something to laugh about or identify with.
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY!
DeleteMy goal is to help people laugh.
ReplyDeleteMy wish is that I succeed.
Kai I think the best way to have a positive effect is to find other bloggers who share your interests. Prompts are a good way to do it. I have found a great blogging community at WordPress that way.
ReplyDeleteHope my posts bring a smile or add a little something extra to whoever reads them.. https://www.ladyinreadwrites.com/elsewhere-elsewhen-extraordinary-es-for-everyone-and-more/
ReplyDeleteWhere do I post my blog link and where do I read all the other bloggers?
ReplyDeleteIt's too late to sign up now, but you can visit the other blogs from the link below, and I guess many will return the favour:

You can also put your link in your comments here.
My blog effectively is little more than an online diary. But because I have a different topics, different particular posts, I get to research stuff I would not normally find time to do like my monthly "geeking science" post and creating a monthly "writing exercise". Would I love to have an audience, of course, but I am going to keep poking along with my blog.
