MASTER LIST
Z is for Zeitgeber
Our team theme this month is “Aspirations: Blogging hopes, dreams, and goals”.Okay, so maybe I should have saved my "learning new words" post for Z (as opposed to V when I used it prior), but while I could have fumbled through a definition for Vivacious, I would not have been able to fumble through for zeitgeber, but I love what it represents:
zeitgeber (noun): an environmental agent or event (such as the occurrence of light or dark) that provides the stimulus setting or resetting a biological clock of an organism
When it comes to blogging, the A to Z Blog Challenge is my zeitgeber. It means it's time to dust off my blogging keys and get to work. It was the challenge that brought my blog into existence! It has been the one (and only) constant in my blogging world. I have posted over 1000 posts, and many of them have been A to Z related. But only about 1/4.
As we wrap up our A to Z Challenge month, think about what you want your blog to be like for the next 11 months? Are there other challenges you want to join? How often do you want to post? What will you post about? If you're a new blogger, these questions are critical to continuing your blog between now and the next time the zeitgeber of A to Z indicates that it's time to blog again.
I was going to say new blogger, but you might notice that I crossed it out. I am not a new blogger. I've been at it for a literal decade. And yet... I find myself needing a reset from time to time.
So new or experienced, remember to set your hopes, dreams, and goals for your blog, and thank you for joining the A to Z Challenge!

ReplyDeleteI hope my blogs going forward have that

Cheers,

I've not heard of zeitgeber but it makes sense. The a-z challenge is sort of a zeitgeber to me as well. I find doing the challenge did make me a bit more energetic about blogging. It's like the challenge gives blogging a spark, something to start your ideas and such.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
As someone who has been blogging since 2011, it has been been up and down for me, but I have finally found a blogging rhythm - so going forward it is always an exciting opportunity to keep doing so. As always, the A-to-Z was a highlight of my blogging calendar - thank you to all the organisers! Until next time! 🇿🇦 Linzé Brandon
ReplyDeleteCount me in on never having heard of Zeitgeber. This Challenge has reset my blogging in a way, brought back my excitement for writing again.
ReplyDeleteNew word on my lexicon unlocked! And to wrap this year's challenge, on my blog I have the classic Zombie.

Thank you for sharing such an interesting word! I guess it sums up my experience too. My blog has been around for 12 years now and I love how every year, I feel propelled to take up this one-of-a-kind creative writing challenge—it's only my fourth time this year but I loved the sheer excitement of being part of it.
ReplyDeleteI learned a new word!! Thanks for that! also, thank you for your kind comment about my X attribute of God. I had totally forgotten that the X in Xmas (Christmas) is the same word! Not sure why I didn't think of it! And yes, my posts weren't very long. Today's was probably the most writing i did for the entire challenge. I found it difficult to get on here each day. Today I wrote about zealous with a bit of historical context from Old Testament.
ReplyDeleteJamie (jannghi.blogspot.com): New word to me, too. My blog has been around since December 2008.
ReplyDeleteThis Challenge has been a zeitgeber! April has been a month of disciplined blogging. Thank you Captain J.
ReplyDeleteYes, the A2Z is a zeitgeiber, every year, even if I don't do it. Thank you to all the team for keeping it going, for bringing new bloggers into the fold, for rejuvenating old bloggers to find new ways of looking at our blogs, and what they could do for us.
ReplyDeleteall the best for next year!

I'm at about 26% of my posts on this current blog being about the A to Z Challenge... I always take a couple of weeks (or months) break after blogging in April. I do a July Birthday Month music blog and then, of course, NaBloPoMo every November... Had a lot of fun with this one, and I enjoyed seeing others' posts...
