MASTER LIST https://tinyurl.com/mu5vjy48
Our team theme this month is “Aspirations: Blogging hopes, dreams, and goals”.
Is blogging a full-time job for you? Something you do on the side, in addition to your full-time job? Or is it just a hobby, something you do for giggles? My guess is that, regardless of why you do it, you want to do it well. Based on everything I've seen, you are living up to that standard. Keep it up!

It's a hobby for me but it often feels like a fun job.

ReplyDeleteit’s a hobby in that i’m not paid to do it. would like to get to the next level
ReplyDeleteHi John. It started out as a hobby and then when I was in high school I wanted it to be a job (really wanted to be a journalist) but that didn't work out so it continued to be a hobby. Then I wanted to write children's books but that didn't go as planned either, so I kept hobbying. Then I had a bright idea to publish a book and thought it was going to make me famous and I could quit my job and just write books (it didn't) so it went back to a hobby. The real paying job gets in the way of the hobby. The way I look at it and this is me and all my Honesty if you do something you love as a hobby to make money, then it's not a hobby anymore and it turns into work and if it doesn't make money, it's not fun anymore. Just my opinion. Do what you love and love what you do, right? And know what you're doing it for. (Sorry for going off on a tangent)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Barbie
Blogging as a full time job????!! um. BIG no. HAHAH. It started out as a hobby and continues to be. My real job was special education preK teacher and I retired a few years early in 2023 for spine issue reasons. the job is not for hikers with spine issues as I've aged.....:) seriously, my blog began in around 2008 at the urge of a then friend who now no longer likes me because I'm not like her and a MAGA fan.
ReplyDeleteI've often thought, though, of turning some of my more "spiritual" devotional type posts into a book and maybe trying to get it published....but.....so far it's just a thought. I'm enjoying this challenge!
Blogging is just one of several hobbies I enjoy, John. I blog about the others from time to time. https://suestrifles.wordpress.com/2026/04/09/homophones-beginning-with-h-atozchallenge/
ReplyDeleteI guess you have to define what hobby is since it can mean something different to every blogger. I can say blogging is a hobby to me but a sometimes stressful one but also enjoyable but not always easy.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I would say it's more stressful during the A-Z Challenge. But, stressful in a good way.
DeleteWriting is most definitely a hobby. Since I'm now retired, I write even more. Blogging is my favorite, although I have written some books (none of which are bestsellers).
ReplyDeleteHobby? Yes. Hungry? Also.
ReplyDeleteToday, allow me to present the multiplicity of hunger.

I started blogging on a website for stroke survivors and their caregivers near the turn of the century and I haven't looked back. It's more a way of life than a hobby and I have never monetized the various blogs I've had over the years. Sometimes it feels like I vomit words out into cyberspace but other times it feels like I'm writing letters to old friends as I march myself closer to the grave.
ReplyDeleteBlogging from me is a hobby done on a part-time basis as I still work a full-time job. Though I am on the downhill slide and getting ever so close to retirement. Even then, I think it’ll stay in the hobby state.
ReplyDeleteBlogging for me is a hobby but I do sometimes blog about my creative business.
ReplyDeleteBlogging is definitely a hobby about my hobby but enjoying this, but still 1 day behind but I'm sticking to my own schedule :) https://circleone.blog/blog/G-for-gossip
ReplyDeleteBlogging helps me to research I wouldn't normally do.
